“Sorry I’m too busy eating food to take pictures of the food but I snapped a couple before the meal. But anyhow; one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. And my party of 10 had a variety of dishes and everyone loved their food. Especially the catfish which frankly was cooked perfectly. I’ll be back super soon. And it’s way out of my way. But well worth the drive. Good stuff. Great find.”

“After our cave tour, we had lunch at 5 Broke Girls. The food was very tasty and loved the iced tea . We did half sweet, half regular, and they served it in a small pitcher. We each got our own pitcher. Hubby ordered the Hamburger Steak. For his sides, he ordered fried okra, pinto beans, and cornbread. Cornbread was moist and slightly sweet, and the okra was fried just right. I ordered the Hart burger with everything on it with a side of fries. Burger was huge, and the fires were delicious.”

“What a delightful lunch stop after a morning at KY Down Under. Friendly, prompt service and hot, cooked to order food. Really appreciate that everything was HAND BREADED— not pre-breaded and frozen from a food supply company. Extra points for the kid friendly atmosphere and game room in the back with arcade games that still only cost $.25!”

We put 5 Broke Girls high on the to-do list because of their reputation and they did not disappoint!! Get the onion rings, for sure. They were handmade and delicious.... all of it was great. Just an awesome place to eat some real good southern home cooking.”

“The people. Everyone's food was fantastic. I had the catfish okra and smashed potatoes. Also in our group was a Cuban and a chicken fried steak sandwich. The onion rings were perfect. The Cuban was very flavorful.”

“This place was recommended by a co-worker of my husband’s when he heard we were going to Mammoth Cave. We prefer local diners when we travel. This place had wonderful food! Husband got the chicken fried steak and it tasted like it was hand breaded, so delicious! I got the southwest chicken and it was juicy and plentiful. Generous portions and attentive waitstaff. We will stop again if we find ourselves back in the area!”

“My husband & I throughly enjoyed our lunches & the decor was interesting & our waitress was great (inspite of being run ragid). It is for sale, so if you are visiting Horse City, you may want to call ahead to make sure they are still there. It was crazy busy, but we didn't have to wait to be seated & we enjoyed the overall experience as well as our meals. Burger & onion rings Porch chips green bean tater tots”

“So glad we stopped here on our road trip back to Texas. Home style cooking . Had the lunch special chicken and dumplings, hubby had their huge hamburger. Tea comes in your own personal pitcher- just add the straw. Food was definitely home made. For desert had one of their many desert choices- chose the caramel apple dump cake since it's fall ya'll. Met the owner who is from Texas- and menu, friendliness, and atmosphere speak to that. Wish we lived closer- it would be a weekly visit. Highly recommend!”
